Chiropractic Treatment

The most common therapeutic procedure performed by doctors of chiropractic is known as "spinal manipulation," also called "chiropractic adjustment." The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have become hypomobile - or restricted in their movement - as a result of a tissue injury. Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting of a heavy object, or through repetitive stresses, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time. In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that can cause inflammation, pain, and diminished function for the sufferer. Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal.

Graston

What is the Graston Technique?

The Graston Technique, a form of soft tissue treatment that utilizes specifically designed stainless steel instruments, enables the effective breakdown of scar tissue and fascial restrictions which can build up within soft tissues, like muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. Fascia, a connective soft tissue found throughout the body, maintains structural integrity and provides support and protection.

  • Cervical sprain/strain (neck pain)
  • Lumbar sprain/strain (back pain)
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (wrist pain)
  • Plantar Fasciitis (foot pain)
  • Lateral Epicondylitis (tennis elbow)
  • Medial Epicondylitis (golfer's elbow)
  • Rotator Cuff Tendinitis (shoulder pain)
  • Patellofemoral Disorders (knee pain)
  • Achilles Tendinitis (ankle pain)

Cox Flexion/Distraction

CoxTechnic.jpg

Cox® Technic is spinal manipulation performed on a specially designed chiropractic table, which has a movable caudal piece (that part on which a patient's legs lie). Each section flexes, extends, laterally bends and circumducts (combination of flexion and lateral flexion), and long-y-axis plane distracts. Cox® Technic is appropriate for low back and leg pain as well as neck and arm pain conditions.

Cox® Technic reduces pain due to disc herniation, slipped disc, ruptured disc, facet syndrome, stenosis, spondylolisthesis, neck pain, arm pain, leg pain, sciatica, and much more.

Cox® Technic is non-surgical, doctor-controlled, hands-on care for spinal pain conditions.

Cox® Technic seeks to return the patient to his/her desired QUALITY OF LIFE.

Spinal Traction

DecompressionTable.jpg

What is spinal traction therapy?

Spinal Traction Therapy is a non-surgical treatment, mechanical traction - based treatment for low back and neck pain caused by disc-related syndromes of the lumbar and cervical spine.

How does spinal traction therapy work?

Instead of worrying about the risks associated with anesthesia, infection, injections and surgery, simply rest on the table while it gently stretches your spine, relieving pressure from the discs, joints and muscular tissue while enhancing your body's natural healing process.

This method of treatment restores proper function to injured discs by creating a controlled, mechanical traction on the spine. During the pull phase, the injured discs are gently stretched apart. Your body responds to the stretching by flooding the area with valuable oxygen, blood and nutrients, which help promote the natural healing process.
As the injured discs are stretched apart, a suction force inside the disc is produced. This draws disc bulges and herniations back into the center of the disc, along with the oxygen, water and nutrients. This may relieve some of the pressure in the problem area where your pain was previously concentrated.

What conditions can be treated by spinal traction therapy?

  • Back or neck pain, Arm or Leg pain
  • Bulging or herniated disks
  • Degenerative disk disease
  • Posterior facet syndrome (worn spinal joints)
  • Radiculopathy (injured or diseased spinal nerve roots)
  • Sciatica (pain, weakness or tingling that extends down the leg)

Physiotherapy

PhysioTherapy.jpg

Moist heat and ice

Heat therapy relaxes muscles, increases circulation and can provide relief to chronic pain. Ice therapy reduces swelling and can help control pain after an injury.

Interferential stimulation

Interferential stimulation, IFC, helps tight muscles to relax by producing electrical currents that pass through the affected area. IFC can help remove damaged tissue, provide pain relief.

Muscle stimulation therapy

Muscle stimulation therapy transmits light electrical pulses to specific areas of the body through electrodes placed on the skin. This stimulation can provide pain relief, reduce inflammation and muscle spasm or cause muscles to contract to reduce muscle atrophy.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound, a form of deep heat therapy created by sound waves, can help reduce swelling, increase blood flow and decrease pain as sound waves, a form of micro-massage, are applied to soft tissues and joints.

LightTherapy.jpg

Light Therapy

Stimulates new cell growth through the application of specific waveforms of infrared light.

Trigger point therapy

Pressure point therapy increases blood flow to specific pressure points, helping to relax muscles, decrease pain and stiffness, increase range of motion and promote healing.

Kinesio Taping &/or Athletic Taping

Kinesio Taping applications as popularized by recent Olympians can provide the continuous care necessary to reduce discomfort and swelling. It helps restore strength to an injured area and can improve the mobility where range of motion has been restricted. Kinesio Taping compliments any form of therapy. It simply and effectively helps accelerate your recovery.

Athletic taping is also offered where the range of motion to an injured joint must be restricted to allow for rest & recovery or to prevent further injury.

massagepic.jpg Massage Therapy

Massage has been shown to increase range of motion and flexibility as well as to improve measures of anxiety, depression, vitality, and perceived stress.

Massage helps overcome the feelings of fatigue.

Massage has positive side-effects in addition to those that affect the musculoskeletal system.

Research indicates that massage can decrease postoperative pain.

Massage can reduce arthritis pain, neck & low back pain, pain from sports injuries or over-exertion, headaches, etc.

Physical Rehabilitation

As the patient tolerates, we incorporate our knowledge of functional rehabilitation to return them to their maximum potential and to further stabilize and strengthen to prevent future problems. We have a fully equipped rehabilitation suite, along with specially trained staff to assist in achieving your goals of becoming and staying pain free.

Foot Levelers orthotics are called something different because they are something different. Spinal Pelvic Stabilizers are shoe inserts that support all three arches in your feet thereby creating a stable foundation upon which to build proper body posture. Spinal Pelvic Stabilizers are "Made for the feet, but designed for the body."

Custom-made Foot Levelers are individualized to stabilize your spine and pelvis by correcting imbalances in your feet- the foundation of your skeletal system. These imbalances may occur even if you're not experiencing foot pain. Though they may go unnoticed, these imbalances contribute to postural misalignments, pain in areas throughout your body and fatigue.

Foot Levelers custom design your stabilizers through an impression or imaging process that your healthcare professional uses in their office. First, get a digital foot scan which captures an exact impression of your feet while you are standing, with your full weight on your feet. Your healthcare provider will determine which style is appropriate for you, and then the scan is sent to the Foot Leveler's laboratory where the stabilizers are created to correct any imbalances found in the three arches of your feet. Your new Foot Levelers will be sent to your care provider, who will show you how to wear and care for them.
